Air India recently discontinued its Mumbai-Pune flight service that connected the two cities in just 55 minutes. The airline began this flight service last year in March. If reports are to go by, it is because of low demand by passengers. There are other flights on the route that you can check out. Here are all of the other important details that you would need to know about the discontinuation of this flight service.
Air India Discontinues 55-Min Mumbai-Pune Flight
According to an article which was recently published by The Indian Express or the IE, the route did not attract a lot of passengers. As per an article by The Bridge Chronicles, this i because travellers preferred alternate transport options over flights.
What is more, the mid-day arrival in Mumbai was not preferred by many passengers. What compounded the lack of response was the fact that most international flights from Mumbai take place at night. This means that travellers would have to wait for a long time for their connecting flights.
Since the larger problem was the timing of the service rather than the service itself, many officials have urged re-introducing the service with changed timings.
Other Flights You Can Take On This Particular Route
There are a number of flights that connect Mumbai to Pune. However, many of them are via other cities so they take around four to five hours. Some of those flight options are as follows: –
