As per a study by MoneyTransfers.com, Phuket in Thailand is the world’s most overcrowded tourist destination. Thailand’s biggest island actually hosts 118 tourists for every local resident. It’s home to some of the world’s most gorgeous coastal spots like Kata and Karon.

With 90 miles of coastline to its credit, Phuket is known to offer a plethora of experiences to tourists. From the most luxurious resorts like Patong to wild nightlife, watersports to stunning beaches, there’s something for every kind of tourist. But Phuket is not the only most crowded destination in Thailand. Pattaya grabbed the 3rd post and Krabi, the 4th, on MoneyTransfers.com’s world’s most overcrowded tourist destinations list.

Meanwhile, many have taken to TripAdvisor to call out the overcrowding on Phuket beaches. One person said nothing prepared them for the hoards of people crowding the Thai island and its beaches. The person stated that new tourists kept flocking in non-stop wide-bodied aircraft. Another sarcastically said that if one likes wall-to-wall people then Phuket can be chosen as a vacation spot. Otherwise, the tourist suggests less crowded spots in Thailand.
